What counts as ID

If you’ve voted in Nevada before:

You do not have to show ID to vote as long as your name appears in the election board register and your signature matches the signature on the record.

If you’re a first-time voter, you may need to show ID to vote. Acceptable forms include:

Nevada driver’s license
Nevada identification card issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles
Tribal identification card

If your Nevada driver’s license or Nevada ID card does not have your current residential address, you will also need to present valid proof of residence.

Nevada lets you pre-register from age 17, so you are on the roll the moment you turn 18.

Who can register, and what you need

To register in Nevada you must:

Be a citizen of the United States
Be at least 18 years old to vote (you may register if you are at least 17 years old)
Have continuously resided in your county in the state of Nevada for at least 30 days and continuously resided in your precinct for at least 10 days before the next election in which you intend to vote
Not currently be serving a term of imprisonment for a felony conviction
Not be determined by a court of law to be mentally incompetent
Claim no other place as your legal residence

Which primary can you vote in?

You are required to register with a party to participate in Nevada partisan primary elections. You should register with the party whose primary you would like to vote in.
