Cruz and Trump Lead Comfortably in Texas
ActiVote’s July 19, 2024 Texas polls show that Republican Senator Ted Cruz leads his Democratic challenger Colin Allred by 7.8%, while former President Trump leads current President Biden by 8.8%.
Cruz vs. Allred (Texas Senate)
This poll was among 400 likely voters, has an average expected error of 4.9%, and was in the field between June 25, 2024 and July 18, 2024 with a median field date of July 6.
Cruz is strongest among rural voters, narrowly wins suburban voters, while Allred narrowly wins urban voters. Allred only wins the youngest voters, while Cruz wins all other age categories. Cruz wins men by a larger margin than Allred wins among women. While Allred leads among independents, Cruz’s hold on Republicans is much stronger than Allred’s lead among Democrats. Cruz dominates among Whites while Allred only narrowly leads among Latinos. Cruz leads in all income and education categories, except for the lowest incomes, where Allred has a small lead.
Trump vs. Biden (Texas Presidential)
This poll was among 400 likely voters, has an average expected error of 4.9%, and was in the field between June 22, 2024 and July 18, 2024 with a median field date of July 5.
Former President Trump has a strong lead among rural voters. Surprisingly, he also leads among urban voters, while President Biden leads among suburban voters. Biden has a strong lead among the youngest voters, while Trump does better with increasing age among voters and gets ⅔ of those 65+. Biden leads among women, while Trump leads among men. Trump has a stronger hold on the Republicans than Biden on the Democrats, and Trump leads among independents. Trump leads among White voters, while Biden leads among Blacks, while Latinos are approximately evenly split between the candidates. Among all education and income groups, Biden only leads low income voters, while Trump leads among all other groups.
