Trump’s Approval Virtually Unchanged
ActiVote’s September 1, 2025 presidential approval poll finds that President Trump’s approval rating slipped by less than 1% from 44.5% to 43.7%, while his disapproval rating reduced by almost 2%, from 52.1% to 50.4% yielding a slightly improved net approval rating of -6.7%.
A total of 412 ActiVote users weighed in on Trump’s approval between August 1 and August 31. They rated Trump on a 5-star rating, which is then converted into standard “approval” and “disapproval” percentages.
August’s numbers are still better than Trump’s average over the 48 months of his first presidency (41%), better than Biden’s average approval rating for his full term (41%), and Biden’s final year’s approval rating (40%).
The groups with a net positive approval rating are rural, middle aged voters (50-64), men and Republicans, White and Latino voters, those with low incomes and those without a 4-year college degree.
If we look at the left-to-right spectrum, Trump’s approval among his base, the moderate right and right, ticked back up to 84%, two points up from last month, while his disapproval from the left and moderate left stayed at 93%. The crucial group of centrists are down to a -3 approval rating from +4 last month.
We don’t read too much into the results of this month’s poll, given that August is a slow-news month with a relatively low participation rate in our poll. If anything, the last five months show a remarkably steady net approval rating of between -3.9% and -7.5%.
