Trump’s Approval Holds Steady as Disapproval Eases
ActiVote’s October 1, 2026 presidential approval poll finds that President Trump’s approval rating is at 37.7%, while his disapproval rating is at 55.4%, yielding a net disapproval of 17.7%.
A total of 977 ActiVote users weighed in on Trump’s approval between September 1 and September 30. They rated Trump on a 5-star rating, which is then converted into standard “approval” and “disapproval” percentages.
At 37.7%, September’s approval is essentially unchanged from the 37.9% recorded in both July and August, and remains below the 40.5% reported in June and the average approval during Trump’s first presidency (41.0%). The movement this month is on the other side: disapproval eased from 56.4% to 55.4%, with “unsure” rising from 5.7% to 6.9%, so net disapproval narrowed from 18.5% to 17.7%.
The groups with a net positive approval rating are Republicans (+55%), men (+13%), those with a graduate degree (+10%) and rural voters (+2%). Closest to break-even are those 50 to 64 (-1%), white voters (-1%) and those 65 and older (-5%). Democrats, Latinos, Black voters, women, voters under 30, independents and those with no more than a high school education are all at least 30 points net negative.
If we look at the left-to-right spectrum, Trump’s disapproval on the Left and Moderate Left is nearly unanimous (99% and 90%). Support on the Right stands at 83% and on the Moderate Right at 68%. The Center is more negative than the national mood this month, at 32% approval and 55% disapproval, a net -23% compared to -18% nationally.
