Trump’s Approval Falls to a Second-Term Low

ActiVote’s August 2, 2026 presidential approval poll finds that President Trump’s approval rating is at 37.9%, while his disapproval rating is at 55.3%, yielding a net disapproval of 17.4%.

A total of 767 ActiVote users weighed in on Trump’s approval between July 1 and July 31. They rated Trump on a 5-star rating, which is then converted into standard “approval” and “disapproval” percentages.

At 37.9%, July’s approval is the lowest of Trump’s second term, below the 39.5% recorded in April, and down from the 40.5% reported in June. It is also below the average approval during Trump’s first presidency (41.0%).

The only groups with a net positive approval rating are Republicans (+63%) and Latinos (+3%). Closest to break-even among the other groups are those 65 and older (-4%), rural voters (-3%) and those with no more than a high school education (-6%), while voters under 50, suburban and urban voters, and those with a graduate degree are all at least 25 points net negative.

If we look at the left-to-right spectrum, Trump’s disapproval on the left and the moderate left remains nearly unanimous (98% and 90%). Support on the right (80%) and moderate right (73%) is significantly lower than in previous months. The centrists are more negative than the national mood this month, at 30% approval against 58% disapproval, a net -28% compared to -17% nationally.
