Trump’s Approval Below 40%

ActiVote’s May 1, 2026 presidential approval poll finds that President Trump’s approval rating is at 39.5%, while his disapproval rating is at 55.9% yielding a net disapproval of 16.4%.

A total of 636 ActiVote users weighed in on Trump’s approval between April 1 and April 30. They rated Trump on a 5-star rating, which is then converted into standard “approval” and “disapproval” percentages.

April’s numbers are by far the lowest of his second term and lower than the average approval during Trump’s first presidency (41.0%).

The groups with a net positive approval rating are rural, middle-aged (50-64), Republicans and White.

If we look at the left-to-right spectrum, Trump’s disapproval on the left and moderate left us unchanged with the last few months and nearly unanimous (96%). The support on the right and moderate right has dropped 3% in the last month from 83% to 80%, while it was over 90% in 2025. The biggest drop in support is among centrists where he went from -16% to -27%.
