A Majority Approves of Trump
ActiVote’s February 1, 2025 presidential approval poll finds that President Trump starts his presidency with a higher approval rating than during his whole first term: 52.0% approval while his disapproval rating stands at 45.9%.
A total of 1182 ActiVote users weighed in on Trump’s approval between January 20 and January 31. They rated Trump on a 5-star rating, which is then converted into standard “approval” and “disapproval” percentages.
These first month’s numbers are much better than his average over the 48 months of his first presidency, which averaged to about 41% approval.
The groups with a net negative approval rating are urbanites, youngsters (18-29), women, Democrats, Blacks, Latinos, low income voters and those with at most high school.
If we look at the left-to-right spectrum, Trump gains as much approval from the (moderate) right, as he gets disapproval from the (moderate) left: in both cases 93%. The crucial group of centrists are the difference makers with a much larger approval (62%) than disapproval (33%) rating.
